Islamabad United plays in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), a professional Twenty20 cricket franchise based in Pakistan. IU was established in 2015 to participate in the competition’s inaugural season, the squad is based in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital.

Amna and Ali Naqvi’s sports company, Leonine Global Sports, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Leonine Global Investments, which owns the franchise. After a thrilling first-ever final against Quetta Gladiators, the franchise claimed the inaugural PSL title. They are the most successful franchise in PSL history with two titles, having won the competition in the third season with a three-wicket victory over Peshawar Zalmi.

It is at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium that the team calls home. Mike Hesson took over as coach after Azhar Mahmood left. Shadab Khan became the youngest captain in PSL history when he was named team captain before PSL 5. Ashley Wright and James Franklin are the team’s batting and bowling coaches.

The team’s top wicket-taker is Shadab Khan, and the top run-scorer is Luke Ronchi.

Islamabad United Team Kit 2024: 

Islamabad United, a perennial powerhouse in Pakistan Super League (PSL), has revealed the team’s official jersey for the forthcoming PSL 9 season, sending fans into a frenzy.

Here are the IU Team kits and jerseys for the PSL Season 9:

  • Red hot (Bold) which is the training kit.

Islamabad United Owners:

Leonine Global Investments, through its sports entity Leonine Global Sports, which Amna Naqvi and Ali Naqvi own, owns the franchise.

Islamabad United Ambassadors:

Between 2016 and 2018, Fawad Khan served as the team’s star ambassador, whereas Ali Zafar served only for the 2016 season. Empowerment has also been a primary focus of the franchise, and Momina Mustehsan became the Empowerment Champion for the team during the 2017 season.

Ali Zafar’s rendition of “Chakka Choka” served as the team’s anthem during the first season of the season. “Cricket Jorray Pakistan” was sung by Momina Mustehsan, and “Kitna Rola Daalay Ga” was sung by Abdullah Qureshi. Both of these songs were released in 2017 and are the team’s new anthems.

PTV Sports is the team’s brand and media partner. United Football Club has signed a contract with JS Bank to serve as the team’s title sponsor and with Q Mobile as the team’s main partner for the second season.
